Can an opponent clone my legendary and have both be sacrificed?

You can't control two legendarys of the same name, but nothing specifies on whether or not two different players can control the same creature. I have had many people (including judges) tell me if cloning an opponents legendary works.

You are looking at this wrong. Nothing says that two players can't both control a legendary card with the same name, so they can. If anyone tells you differently then they are thinking of the pre-M14 Legendary Rule. The current one can be found at 704.5k in the comprehensive rules.

704.5k If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners graveyards. This is called the legend rule.

First of all, two legendary permanents with the same name aren't sacrificed, they're simply put into the graveyard as a state-based action.

That being said, the legendary rule applies to permanents a single player controls. You might have gotten different answers because this used to be different, but according to the current rules, two players may control a legendary permanent with the same English name.

"Nothing specifies" is also wrong, as it's written quite clear in the rules:

704.5k. If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the "legend rule."
