can a Planeswalker get infect?

I had a planeswalker on the field and my opponent had an infect deck, I had nothing to block with when he attacked and he targeted my walker so does it get infect counters on it?
technically poison/wither (or infect) counters wouldnt affect a plainswalker at all, from my understanding. Planeswalkers have loyalty counters, which are not +1/+1 counters, so they arent cancelled out by -1/-1 counters. Unless the rulebook specifies that poison counters remove loyalty counters, a plainswalker should be unaffected. The only exception would be Gideon, Champion of Justice while he is a creature. im pretty sure will keep -1/-1 counters on him as a plainswalker and if he becomes a creature with more -1/-1 counters than loyalty counters, he will be placed in the graveyard as a state based action.

No, raithe000 is correct. Infect states that it deals damage to players as Poison Counters and creatures as -1/-1 counters. Since Planeswalkers are (usually) none of these things, they're simply dealt the regular form of damage, which in the case of Planeswalkers, has the result of removing Loyalty counters.

No, it just loses loyalty. Infect specifies that it gives poison counters to players and -1/-1 counters to creatures. Damage to planeswalkers would be unaffected.
