Bouncing Grinning Ignus

When I saw Grinning Ignus I thought it was a relatively weak card. I explained to my friends that perhaps after it taps (for attacking maybe) you can pay 1 Red and return it to your hand and bring it back out untapped with the mana it produced. Would this work? My friends are saying no but I want to make sure.
Yes, why wouldn't that work? It comes back in as a completely new permanent... there is no reason why you cannot pay Red and bring it back to hand and play it out again, untapped, as it's a new permanent and has no memory of its previous existence.

Yes. I don't see why they would think otherwise; you're bouncing Grinning Ignus for R and then using the mana its ability produced to cast it from your hand again. It enters as a new permanent in its native, untapped state.
