Boggart Shenanigans and Skirk Fire Marshal

Asked by fallensaviour 11 years ago

was in a multiplayer game recently and an opponent had both out, my opponents were at less than 10 life and i was at 11 when the Skirk Fire Marshal was activated, would i win before the Boggart Shenanigans would trigger and deal damage? (argument was rectified by other player blowing up a goblin as a reaction to the effect hitting the stack but i'm still curious)

Losing the game for having 0 or less life is a state-based action, and those are checked right before each time a player would get priority. When a triggered ability triggers, it's put onto the stack the next time a player actually gets priority. This means the players lose before the Boggart Shenanigans triggers are put onto the stack.

Yes. You would tap your Goblins to activate Skirk Fire Marshal 's effect, then it would go on the stack and resolve. Then the damage is dealt to everything and all your Goblins would die. This is the part I'm iffy on. I believe state-based actions would be checked when the damage is dealt, and seeing that your opponents and your Goblins had lethal damage marked on hem, they would lose the game as a state-based action. I'm not sure if Boggart Shenanigans would ever trigger since they would lose the game at that point, but it's ability wouldn't have time to resolve.
