are emblems affected by Upheaval?

Asked by yahboyeee 14 years ago

So if my friend uses Venser's ability and get the emblem out and i use Upheaval to return all permanents, is the emblem affected?

nope. heres an emblem:

1) print out a nice picture of venser.

2) put it one of those sturdy, thinker sleeves.

3) put it on a string of some kind.

4) when venser uses his final ability put the emblem around your friends neck as a necklace.

5) thats an emblem, they wear it like a necklace or a belt buckle.

supernick's correct, but to put some Comp Rules muscle behind it:

113.5. An emblem is neither a card nor a permanent. Emblem isn't a card type.

An emblem is just a thing. It's simply a fact of the game from that point on. I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it until the game's over.

Emblems aren't permanents, as Magnor and supernick said, they're just things. It's like adding a new rule. If you get Venser's emblem, a new rule is created:

"Whenever you cast a spell for the remainder of the game, you may exile a permanent."

After the game ends, you lose the emblem, and the rule disappears.

I would want a swamp mana symbol buckle.

Those marketing execs at Wizards better get on this before it goes underground...

do it as a necklace like a backstage pass. have venser flipping em off with both hands going "fight me".

koth get a pic of him shooting rock shards from himself like Spikeshot Goblin .

elspeth get a nuke explosion and a cockroach over it.

thats wat i would do for emblems.
