Are colerless and Artifact creatures also Monocolored creatures?

Asked by Junius 13 years ago

I had a game today where I had my Defiler of Souls . I wanted to sacrifice an Artifact creature (without color), but my opponent said that it wasn't a Monocolored card. Even tho I'm more of the specialist in MtG rules (compared to my opponent) I was still wondering. So, are Artifact creatures and colorless creatures like an eldrazi such as hand-of-umrakul monocolored?

I meant Hand of Emrakul , just so you know.

Because "colorless" isn't a color, a colorless object can't be monocolored. Here's the relevant quote from the Comprehensive Rules:

105.2a A monocolored object is exactly one of the five colors.

colorless permanents are exactly that colorless, they have not colorartifact is a card type and does not make the permanent colorless,

at the same time if a card is colorless, it does not make that card an artifact,

and because a colorless card has no color it can not be a mono or multi color card
