Another marchesa question...

Again this might be another easy one to answer but I wanted to be positive before I actually played in a large group with the deck. Does dethrone trigger if your attacking a planeswalker that the player with the most life controls. Since you have to choose between the person and the planeswalker when declaring attackers I feel like dethrone doesn't trigger if you attack the planeswalker. We were just unsure because we also thought it seemed plausible that all you had to do is be attacking at the player with the most life's board. So regardless of if it was at the planeswalker or not dethrone would still trigger because your attack was going in that direction. Marchesa, the Black Rose for a dethrone reference.

Note also that there is no "side of the board," so there is no "direction" to combat (at least not in the sense that you're trying to establish. The battlefield is a single, shared zone. Players control different objects on the battlefield.

If you are attacking a planeswalker, you are not attacking a player, so anything that triggers when a creature attacks a player (such as dethrone) will not trigger.
