Stamped Draft Cards?

General forum

I bought a card off ebay recently and I just got it in the mail. It has a stamp on the lower right hand side by the flavor text. I believe it's a draft stamp.

Does this make the card worse in value? More collectible? Should I be upset about my purchase?

The card is less valuable, yes. But it depends on how it was marked in the listing. If it was SP then that's fine.

If your card was marked NM, then file a report about it. Stamped cards are not NM.

In general, draft stamps tend to reduce the value of cards. However, you may be able to squeeze extra value out of it if you trade to the right person and say the right thing.

Draft-stamped cards are also kind of cool for EDH because they're unusual.

You can trade it to a Modern player quite easily.

Was it listed as a NM card? Also, I'd be willing to trade for it.

No it wasn't, so that's okay.

And it's not for trade :) Thank you for the offer though.

Most people honestly don't care. Some like them more because they are much rarer than non-stamped copies. Basically, a spike player could care less as long as it's playable. EDH and some collectors actually like them more because of the rareity.

If the seller didn't fully disclose the stamp then they are in the wrong. It's probably not that big of a deal though.

@Mpz5 Did not let me know the card was stamped, but I didn't see it as a big deal either. Thanks for the input

Okay, this may seem dumb, but what is a draft stamp? I've never heard of it before...(I feel extra dumb cuz I've been playing for 3+ years lol)

@Nobilior: At professional level events, the judges stamp every card in your deck to make sure no one sneaked in extra cards during sealed and draft.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND (because tappedout doesn't have an edit funtion), here's some pictures of what it looks like:

stamped cards

You can see on the right hand side of each card below the expansion symbol where they marked each card with a rubber stamp. Here you can see what booster packs look like at professional events:
