OH MY GOD. THATS SO MUCH WIN. my main interest is actually the lands. i was talking to Balthasar earlier, we were thinking possibly enemy colored dual lands??? maybe? i had the thought of maybe a legendary land in each color that assisted in infect? its been a while since legendary lands have been around. what do you guys think?
March 29, 2011 3:24 a.m.
I only like Legendary on creatures, but thats just me.
Life's goal = learn Phyrexian
WoTC hired a linguist to make the language.
I. Will. Learn.
March 29, 2011 3:57 a.m.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there won't be many more infect cards.
However, they will take advantage of the mechanic poisoned and such.

phyrexianpotater says... #14
Leafs_suck i will totally join you on that journey. there has to be an alphabet somewhere. haha.
March 29, 2011 4:31 a.m.
Phyrexian for "destroyer".
Think of everyone asking "How do you say blah blah blah in Phyrexian?" hahah
March 29, 2011 4:38 a.m.
phyrexianpotater says... #16
and that would make sense to me. the invasion and infection is compleat. now they will increase the strength at which it decays the land.
definitely gonna have some sick proliferate cards. i can feel it.
March 29, 2011 4:39 a.m.
phyrexianpotater says... #17
i would totally get that tatted. i think i might....

So Karn huh?
I can only imagine what ghastly abilities that card will have.

Bleh.
I can't say I'm surprised, but I am disappointed.

Leafs_suck - "WoTC hired a linguist to make the language."
Where did you hear that? That's pretty much awesome if it's true.
March 29, 2011 9:18 a.m.
I had to go to school at 8 o clock, but something in me said I got to check the mtg site... and there it was! NEW PHYREXIA! I already thought so (80/20 scars, 50/50 besieged, 20/80 had to be action). I preffered the mirran cards (Signal Pest and Accorder Paladin are just... yeah the best uncommons of besieged), but phyrexia is my choice because they are badass. I can't wait to see what phyrexia will do in red.

its on the wizards website. and all over google if you take the time to check it out
March 29, 2011 12:37 p.m.
At last!!! Winning the war is good but getting Karn back (!) and in Father of Machines mode (!!!!!!!!)
Also like Norn, she's a bit pricy but still playable and with a great ability, if all the Praetors are gonna be this baddass I feel many decks will have to squeeze in an extra couple of Brittle Effigies just in case.
Get ready because infect is gonna get S I C K.

Dear Doug Beyer, In the "All Will Be One" video, someone is speaking Phyrexian. Did someone in Creative create actual rules for a Phyrexian language, or is it just gibberish? Does any transliteration exist so fans can learn to at least recite things like "The Great Work has begun" in Phyrexian? --Eli
There is a Phyrexian language, complete with rules of grammar and pronunciation, constructed for us by a linguist. It has a spoken component, which, I am told, is being spoken properly throughout the video. (I am not personally fluent, but I can, you know, make do in a Phyrexian restaurant. Well, not really. But you don't want anything on the menu in a Phyrexian restaurant anyway.) The language also has a written component, which you can see scrawled along the left edge of the video. (Phyrexian writing is written vertically, read top to bottom.) I am told that this is also correctly written in the video.
So basically if you tap Elesh to the right, you're reading top to bottom and thats how Phyrexian is meant to be read

@Leafs_suck: That's awesome. :D I'm so happy they actually went through that level of attention to detail.
March 29, 2011 3:54 p.m.
Om the mtgsalvation forums there are a few people who studied linguistics in post secondary and they're trying their best to decode and find shit out. They both think that it's not just thrown together, it's actually pretty unique.
March 29, 2011 4:01 p.m.
MagnorCriol says... #29
I studied the card a little while myself, but couldn't make any sense of it. Clearly, my strong interest in linguistics isn't enough to make up for my complete lack of training and study in the subject, because I just gave up and assumed it was just thrown together. =p

I cannot wait to see the mechanics on Karn the Destroyer and the other Praetors.
As for the set, It was expected...but it is still nice to finally get it out. Makes sense flavor wise.
March 29, 2011 4:38 p.m.
Elesh is totally going in deck:bs-angelic-beasties Can anyone say pre-order?

Makes me happy. I was rooting for Phyrexians :D
March 29, 2011 7:12 p.m.
I think everyone is over something else that's kinda obvious because of the spoiler card, New Phyrexia is a 175 card small set.
March 29, 2011 7:41 p.m.
MagnorCriol says... #34
Well, it was going to be a small set because it's set #3 regardless (Rise of Eldrazi notwithstanding, it goes Big-Small-Small). But how does this spoiler card indicate that itself?
March 29, 2011 7:42 p.m.
Was I the only one who really liked the video? It was so well made.
My two favorite parts by far were the "reveals" of the artworks for Karn and Jin-Gitaxias.

Epochalyptik says... #38
Ditto, MagnorCriol
So now I'm pretty much waiting for this set to be done with so we can get M12 going and toss out infect. I can't wait until the mechanic falls out of standard.
March 30, 2011 3:27 a.m.
theemptyquiver says... #39
Infect out of standard is still quite a ways off! We are stuck with it for better or worse for quite some time.
I say embrace it while we have it.
March 30, 2011 3:34 a.m.
@ magnorcriol- It was in one of the columns on the mtg site. Can't find the link atm though.

iver personally gotten on the band wagon for infect. i think its pretty awesome cause its like a game within a game, and its beatable just as easy (or not easy) as a deck infect deck. WoTC did a really good job keeping a leash on it.
March 30, 2011 12:06 p.m.
theemptyquiver says... #42
My favorite part of the infect addition to Magic right now is how much it changes the dynamic of creature battles. Aggressive decks are still being aggressive, but suddenly their creatures are getting chumped and having lingering damage from the withering effect.
It just gives pause that was not there previously. The other side of this is the proliferate mechanic that makes having -1/-1 counters dangerous.
The actual poison counters on the players is the most boring part of the infect. I mean, I get a lot of satisfaction from dealing the 10th counter, but it is the least exciting part of infect.
March 30, 2011 1:11 p.m.
phyrexianpotater says... #43
a non infect deck* not a deck infect deck.. jeez
March 30, 2011 1:16 p.m.
phyrexianpotater says... #44
i agree with like everything theemptyquiver just said. its a really awesome mechanic in my opinion. i will actually be sad to see it go. its like the ugly cousin that has all the really cool toys. you first meet him and your like WTF IS THIS SHT. and then you go back to his house for a bit and you play with all the power rangers megazords and the big turtle that holds the white tiger and then youre like I FCKIN LOVE THIS DUDE. and then 6 months later his house burns down. hes still around, but all the toys are fcked.

I had no idea what you were talking about, so I had to look up these mysterious toys.
I came from the age of Voltron.
Power Rangers...I just did not get.
March 30, 2011 1:35 p.m.
phyrexianpotater says... #48
i do admit power rangers is a rip of voltron, and less awesome. but thats what i grew up on, so i have fond memories, haha.
ITS MORPHIN' TIME!
March 30, 2011 1:40 p.m.
@backyardmetal your cousin analogy made me roll on the floor XD
And theemptyquiver, I'll make your words mine as well. Infect is simply amazing, however as all new mechanics that change some basis of the game it's doomed to either fail, due to lack of confidence by R&D, or end up broken, never achieving full potential.
The greatest threat comes when you associate infect with something else, everybody fears the power of a Phyrexian Crusader and even the little Inkmoth Nexus or Plague Stinger can be pumped to giganormous proportion and maul you more efficiently than an freaking Eldrazi.
It's easy to see why infect hasn't got much more than a couple of powerful yet not cheap reliable cards, or else guys would be all over them and aggro-infect would rule standard for months.
