I'll admit, I can't find any good anime to watch that I haven't seen so I've decided to ask the community for good ideas.

If you name an anime that I haven't seen and I like the first episode I'll look through your decklists and upvote the one I like the most.

well Toriko was a tad too on the childish side of it's genre for my tastes, at least based off of it's episode 1.

Now from comment 3 to 10 I saw a couple of animes I didn't watch already, will have to try them out later. It may also be worth noting that I made this thread to try to keep me from spending another few hours looking through animefreak again

I'd also recomend "Little Witch Academia" (Short film, about 30m)

And also "The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki" or "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" are both pretty good movies. I'd suggest trying to make a date of it~ Especially Ame and Yuki~

I recently stumbled over Metropolis on tv. Really nice movie, there's action, mystery, a cutie, robots and an interesting story with implied deep philosophical topics.

I'm reading Blue Exorcist lately, that's also available as anime series. It's awesome (The manga is, I can't really guarantee for the anime until I see it myself).

Higurashi no naku koro ni, kai and rei

When they cry, When the Cicadas cry

Either or will yeild the same results. But I plead you, don't watch the dub, the voice acting was terrible... It's really hard to get into, but it picks up pretty fast. Gotta get passed a few episodes.

Genre: Horror

If you want movies, anything by Makoto Shinkai or Mamoru Hosoda are excellent films.

If you want current series, I recommend Kill la Kill, Nagi no Asukara, or Coppelion.

For recent series, try Shin Sekai Yori, Nichijou, or Steins;Gate.

For classics, watch any Ghost in the Shell production or Outlaw Star.

I watch a lot of anime and used to have an anime blog. I'm watching 20 shows currently and have a few movies and something like 5 series on backlog.

well yungxak Kino no Tabi's first episode was decent, my only problem was it being stretched out, it felt nigh impossible to stay awake towards the end.

I guess it would be useful to put up some idea as to my usual anime watching habits: currently I'm not watching about 5-8 currently running anime that appears on animefreak's daily page (most of those being either mainsteam shows that I either don't have interest in or gave up watching due to not wanting to wade through season of filler, or shows in genre's I have no interest in or the shows that have very short episodes). I also watch about 25-70 episodes in addition each week, which can explain why most shows mentioned I have seen already.

I guess I should also bring up some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned in the thread yet.

Guilty Crown: The music in the show works well with the epic fight scenes. Also the development of the main character as he goes through his hero's journey, I especially liked when he shifted from a kind king to a tyrant or when he went from broken to martyr.

Soul Eater: An anime that fits in with Shounen, but doesn't pull punches to fit in with Naruto or Pokemon's target audience, it also has pretty sweet music and action scenes... if only they didn't go with a "Lets just end it now" type of ending.

Sword art online: The first half at least was epic, the second was decent.

Now that I think about it there's about 50 of my favorite anime that wasn't mentioned here... I don't really want to type that much.

Demarge says... #44

Yeah Outlaw Star was good when I saw it long ago, the opening song was good. Unfortunately now it's episodes feel worn, though that seems to be true for many older anime, people of today are given a much faster pace when it comes to any sort of show which is mainly due to commercials. Old shows would show a man getting up from a table, going to the door, tie their shoes, open the door, close the door, get in the car, start the car, get out of the driveway, drive down the road. A newer show will likely show a third of those scenes and assume your mind knows what happened.

Skimmed through, didn't see it mentioned. Shikabane Hime. The first few episodes are a bit redundant because they try to spell out the concept for the viewer. I think its worth a watch, though.

Ghost Hunt!

It's my favourite, they were limited on cash so production quality isn't that good, however the story and characters are EXCELLENT!

It also have the added benefits of the characters actually changing their clothes instead of wearing the same thing throughout the entire story.
