Of the two names for the final SoM set code-named 'action', which name do you think will stick?

Mirrodin Pure, IF even one of them is correct. Personally, I'm betting on another, more vague name.

As cool as Mirrexia would be wizards have stated that 'action' will be either Mirrodin Pure or New Phyrexia.

New Phyrexia just because Mirrodin Pure is a sucky name and there needs to be a continuity to the storyline

karn comes flying in through a superportal made by venser, pulls the stones out of his face, and then a couple planeswalkers explode or something, Urza is reborn. Gerrard Capashen and the weatherflight fly over the horizon, Urza gets decapitated AGAIN, Gerrard takes Urza's left ear, puts it on Karn, and a wave of colorless mana rips through, cleansing the planet of all phyrexian taint. Urza dies again. Everybody planeswalks out, Karn regains his spark, and Slobad and Glissa become Planeswalkers, and proceed to star in a duel deck. Koth goes emo.

MIRRODIN PURE

Hamburgers...your post needs fireworks. And a kickin' guitar solo.

Personally, I'm hoping for Mirrodin Pure; I don't really care for the whole "evil's gonna win because it's so bad it's cool" schtick, which is what Phyrexia winning would feel like to me. I think. Depends on how they pull it off, I suppose.

Also, I fully acknowledge that my opinion is biased by my predilection for the good guys to win. =p

How would "New Phyrexia" provide more continuity to the storyline than "Mirrodin Pure", Jarrod_0067?

Just speculating... the Phyrexians build up an army but are taken over by Bolas, who becomes the new ruler of Phyrexia. With so much power, they return to other planes to try and conquer them too. Jace and co. team up but are driven back by Bolas and Tezz (who is more powerful after his rebirth). Some big hero (maybe Urza who knows? Anything is possible) eventually kills Bolas then Phyrexia is finally defeated.

Just saying, I would think that would be epic

Then the eldrazi show up and own everyone.

Deco_y says... #10

If Bolas released the eldrazi on purpose, he should take over and make a 10/10 unblockable eldrazi with infect.

Win.

Scars of Mirrodin(before getting invaded), Mirrodin Besieged(attacked by Phyrexia), New Phyrexia(because A.) Infect is awesome B.) it sounds a HELL of a lot better than Mirrodin Pure)

I really hope the set is named New Phyrexia, I mean Phyrexia hasn't had many recent victories.

Props hamburger, Props.

Both of these names sound vile. Scars of Mirrodin, Mirrodin Besieged, both epic. Both using key words that sound awesome. Scars, Besieged, Action!

It's going to be a catchy, GOOD name. Neither of these fit that.

They're baaa-aack

New Phyrexia, because if mirrodin wins then Nicol Bolas wins and they can make him THAT powerful, they need the phyrexia so a opposition exist to Bolas as the BIG BAD, that is why it will bring continuity, and also they can discard the real first bad boys of magic so easly.

Hamburgers, if you check the Daily MTG, they posted art for mirrodin besieged cards, and there is a beatiful illustration of someone who i think is karn, but with a phyrexian twist, because if you remember or of you know the history, the phyrexians entered mirrodin in karn, because they "infected" him first so it would make sense that he is now phyrexian :D but thats just speculations from my part and i also love the phyrexians XD

Personally, I am a huge fan of the Phyrexians, and yeah the name New Phyrexia us so much better than Mirrodin Pure. But I have a huge problem with the new Phyrexian cards. They have no huge sacrifice costs that the older ones had. No paying of Life or sacrificing creatures to activate costs. I do approve of Infect though. Now just give me Phyrexian Dreadnought with infect, and maybe I will stop complaining.

I swear the Myr would just randomly appear in 'Action' and just own everything.

I think honestly New Phyrexia is going to be the name. Also note I am saying this for the sake of storyline and to somehow reconnect Dominia back into the thick of things.

I am not a Huge fan of the Phyrexians. But I did like some of the old cards for sure.

Only time will tell and if everything goes how I am thinking it might. We are going to be seriously struck by some metalcraft and infect cards.

December 24, 2010 12:15 a.m.

I feel like it will also be New Phyrexia. There's too much pointing towards Karn's complete subversion to Yawgmoth. I hope it goes down like this: Bolas and Tezz reluctantly side against the Phyrexian advancements on Mirrodin, culminating towards one massive final stand by Mirrodin against Karn, who has become the new embodiment of Yawgmoth. Epic battle ensues, enormous destruction, but ultimately Bolas and Tezz are forced to retreat from the plane as Karn/Yawgmoth are too powerful (Karn/Urza plus a recovered Yawgmoth). Story arc continues, yay.

It'd be cool for all planeswalkers in existance to be against the new Karn/Yawgmoth.

That'd be epic.

@Cakestrife

bolas is in the phyrexian side. he sent tezz to work his way into the phyrexian order and he worked his way up.

@hamburgers Slobad is dead.

March 27, 2011 10:37 a.m.

Come on guys, think! karn is still alive. Glissa is still alive (sort of). tezz working for phyrexia/bolas, and phyrexia destroying bladehold. phyrexians know the mirrans are holed up in oxxid ridge, and the only planeswalkers to help out his time are koth, elspeth, and venser.

Of coarse the mirrans will win! lol. come on, everyone has been beating bolas over and over again for centuries, and phyrexia has been beaten before as well. mirrans have the Lux Cannon right? and karn still has memory of what he used to be like. karn will somehow break out of the mind control of the oil, make one of the preators the new "leader" of all phyrexia and say that the others can become leader if they take it for themselves. BAM! a phyrexian civil war breaks making it easy for the mirrans to take back the planet. happy ending again, except for bolas becoming infected with oil, not knowing it, and comeing back to ravnica for it all to start again. (thats the end plot twist).

Bolas is on Bolas' side. that's a rule you can put money on.

So visual spoilers are slowly starting to leak for New Phyrexia -- check out

this site for a good collection.

It looks like there will maybe be a Chancellor serving under each praetor? Since they've already confirmed cards named 'Chancellor of the Annex' and 'Chancellor of the Dross'.

Anyone with thread-startin' powers feel like starting a NPH speculation thread?
