Lowland Basilisk + Viridian Longbow

I know that any creature with Deathtouch combined with a Viridian Longbow becomes a one-tap-killing-machine.

I also know that any older card text that refer to "destroy creature that this creature damages" works the same way as long as it doesn't explicitly say "combat damage."

Lowland Basilisk is a bit in-between. It apparently doesn't have to be combat damage but do I need to wait until the end of the Combat Phase for the other creature to die?
