So I was looking for information about dragon's maze, and I came across this post by the global moderator on mtgsalvation. Here's the link: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=483735 , So what do you guys think of the possible new land?

With the actual Gate cards being mystically and almost imperceptibly connected by the hidden message running through their flavor text, as well as the decent level of difficulty to pull off the alternate win condition, this rumor sounds almost legit.

If it's true, we'll probably get another gate-fetching card similar to Gatecreeper Vine , but also a card or two that destroys gates at a lower CMC than normal land destruction cards.

Terrible. It's worse than Door to Nothingness and completely unplayable in Limited.

I would be highly dissappointed if this were the new mythic land. It would be, as zandl said, completely unplayable, and bad in limited and EDH because if they get rid of 1 land you're screwed. Having 10 or 11 llands in play is rarely going to happen, and why make a card that is useless unless you have that?

To be honest, that doesn't feel mythic. Rare, sure, but certainly not mythic. Perhaps it has a tap effect that will let you fetch gates? That would certainly vouch for its mythic rarity, imo.

Not EDH viable. Not even casual viable. Bad. There needs to be some other ability to make this slightly less of a disappointment.

Well I could see it having an ability like "Tap: add one mana of any color a gate you control could produce"

We decided at the draft tonight that if it allowed the gates to enter the battlefield untapped it could actually be worth playing.

For it to be viable, it would also need to have something like "Tap: Search your library for a Gate card, and put in onto the battlefield."
Or at least into your hand... perhaps even with a mana cost to activate.
This would make it workable as a mana fix or possibly ramp (great for all colors in the RtR set), while being able to ignore the alternate win-con.
If it's only an alternate win-con, but has nothing worth using it for in any other situation, then I don't see any way they justify its rarity as a mythic. Tibalt is more playable, and in more deck types.

It'll probably be able to search for gates, making gates more viable as a mana source. Plus it goes with RTR's storyline. Was I really the only one that read the first book?

Sounds interesting.
For anybody that doesn't want to go to MTGSalvation, the rumor is that the mythic land will create an auto-win scenario when you control 10 gates.
