Are playmats worth?

Is it worth my time to get a playmat? I'd be curious to see everyone's opinion on it.

And if I was to get a playmat, which company should I get one from?

I think it's worth it. I personally do not have one, but will likely invest in one now that I play at FNM. Who knows who spilled what on the table? Plus, they can look pretty cool.

Playmats are a solid investment. $10-30 and you protect your sleeves from scratching, table smegma, and other unsavory debris. Plus, it helps you define your play area and gives you another way to express yourself or show your interests.

There are plenty of premade mats. I have a signed Deadly Allure mat I bought from Steve Argyle. (Artist mats are, in my experience, of good quality.)

If you want a custom mat, I highly recommend InkedPlaymats. They set the standard for quality and consistency in custom mat printing.

I have four or five and they are a necessity for any serious Magic player. The tables at my LGS can be downright dirty sometimes.

I also find myself loaning a playmat to a friend every once in a while, or someone who forgets theirs.

And some of the art on them is killer, of course.

For your basic playmat, Ultra Pro works fine. Most of them you can find for under $20 and I would say that it is a good investment. Just choose an art that you like.

I recently got the art for Vendilion Clique, because what else would I need for playing modern Faeries?

Yeah man. They're really nice. Also, friendly banter and smack talk always ensues over mats. They're a great way to express your preferred colors or interests outside of the game. I got mine from InkedPlaymats. Very happy with it.

I'm a massive League of Legends junkie and have a bit of an obsession with Ahri, the character portrayed on the mat. I asked the artist behind the official artwork if I could use one of his unofficial pieces for the mat and he agreed. The mat came out nice as all hell. Highly recommend InkedPlaymats because having your own custom mat feels fantastic.

Saw the image of your mat TheDevicer and thought to myself "woah that's Ahri," and then remembered that I already knew you played League and like Ahri... Completely forgot about the custom set, hah.

I've got an InkedPlaymats mat that's great quality. I've had it for a good amount of time, it's held up beautifully, and I use it all the time. Really helps sleeves stay in good condition, which is especially important if you're using graphic sleeves.
