OK, so a friend of mine told me he had heard of a card that is very odd.It is a card that, apparently, you can go up to ANY Magic game (even if you are not playing in it) lay this odd card down, and affect the game in some way. Is it a real card? It sounds made up to me.

It's from an Un set, which means it's a joke card.

Sounds like an Unhinged / Unglued Card

Ass Whuppin' Is the only one I can think of off hand [and might be the only one that exists I'm not 100% certain.]

If I remember correctly, it is a real card from the unhinged/unglued series. I don't remember the name, maybe someone else can help with that, but I assure you it is a real printed card.

It's a card, but it's from one of the two joke sets and has no actual use outside of any casual games where Un cards are being allowed.

Like Fictions_Reality already said, the card is Ass Whuppin' from Unhinged. Whether or not it's "real" depends on what you mean by "real".

  • Was the card designed, developed, printed, and issued by Wizards of the Coast and distributed for sale in booster packs as part of an expansion to the game? Yes
  • Is the card legal for play in any of the normal types of sanctioned DCI events, and does it actually do what your friend says it does? No

The silver-bordered Unglued and Unhinged expansions were meant to be funny, wacky, only usable in casual games, and only usable if everyone in the game is cool with a player using them. Notice that Ass Whuppin' only affects silver-bordered cards, meaning it assumes you're interacting with a game where the players are already playing with weird and silly Un-cards.

This card sounds like Ass Whuppin' from the unhinged block. It is real in the sense that it was made by the official mtg company. It is NOT, however, tournament legal. It was part of a set of cards printed as a joke and was never intended for normal play. If you're interested you can find more of the joke cards here.
