Hey there TappedOut-ers! Xindlepete again. For those of you who dont know what Im doing here: I really enjoy coming up with new card concepts and ideas, and recently I've been making planeswalker mock-ups for friends both IRL and on the site! So if you would like to check out some of my handiwork to date, here's a link to my "TappedOut Mockups" folder on photobucket: TappedOut Mockups
Anyway, I've had such a blast coming up with custom planeswalkers for other users, I've decided to make a game of it! :D So here are the rules:
Send ONE email message to this address: [email protected] (this is a new email specifically for this. Please do not message me about anything not pertaining to this thread. It will just get deleted.)
In the RE: section give your TappedOut account name.
In the message type the name of your favorite deck posted on TappedOut, as well as what color(s) and gender you would like the PW to be.
I will repost this thread every Monday, and each Monday I will randomly draw one lucky winner out of the inbox! Back to one winner per week.
The lucky winner will receive a link on their page to their planeswalker, as well as a public link of the winning PW on the following week's Drawing.
Thank you in advance for participating, and Please Please PLEASE follow the rules! So far I appreciate everyones respect for the game as it stands. :D
P.S. for those of you who have submitted but did not win, I will leave your emails in the inbox, so there is no need to reapply! Good luck to everyone, and I look forward to hearing feedback from you winners!
And congrats to smash10101, on being this week's winner! Here is the custom mock-up:
Wow, can't believe I haven't seen this yet. Awesome thing you're doing, I'm definitely trying out

no one is going to fall for that unless they're a complete noob, older sets don't even have planeswakers

Lol, you guys are TERRIBLE people! Actually, what my friends and I have done with the custom 'walkers I made for us was TELL our friends BEFORE the match "Hey, we've been making some custom planeswalkers, would you be alright with letting me play it in this deck I have?" Honestly, if you show them what it is BEFORE you play, they will likely say yes, because they are just as interested in it as you are. :)
PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PASS OFF MY MOCK-UPS AS REAL CARDS, AS THAT CAN BE CONSTITUTED AS FRAUD AND/OR COUNTERFEITING!

yeah, I would never actually try to pass it off as a real card. DOn't think I could pull off making a realistic enough proxy of a real card. I just don't know if using it with asking people would be good. seems kind of unfair cause even though it's well balanced it still is designed specifically to be used in my decks (well, my melek deck, but it would be great in my izzet 60 card deck too)

Actually, I do the best I can to make each card work outside of the deck I use as the basis, and not just for that deck. All of the other PWs can be useful in multiple deck archetypes, so I feel that my customs should be no different. And with yours, smash10101, have you noticed that I simply used Venser, the Sojourner as a template? Take a peek at them side-by-side, and you'll notice it. :)
So yours, even more than any of the other customs I've made, should be easy to get your friends to agree to. Just pitch it as an "Izzet version of Venser." The +2 has dual use, because you can use it to bounce some of their threats back to their hand at the cost of dealing damage to yourself, or you can bounce some of your own creatures to your hand in order to deal a bit of damage to your opponent. I figured that was a more U/R version of Venser's +2, since it can still allow for some fun with ETB effects.
The -1 is just Teleportal overloaded. Nothing they can argue with there.
And the -8 gives you an emblem that deals damage to your opponent based on spell-casting, which is MUCH more U/R then Venser's original "exile sh*t based on spell-casting."
If necessary, you can point this out to your friends and see if they would be willing to let you play it. :)

Oh, he designs the planeswalker around the deck?
My submission is flawed, then... Ah well, probably wasn't gonna make it this time around.

i didn't even notice, though it may help that I never played scars block and don't think i've ever seen him played, but yeah, super obvious now. and yeah, he works in most decks that can support him, but it's still designed with my deck in mind.
Also, any chance I could edit it a bit? the new m14 rules update is very clear that unblockable is not a keyword and that creatures are unblockable, not gain unblockable, and the first ability needs to say where the damage comes from (I think it should be Smash1010, but it could be the creature, and you never take damage, but are dealt damage) and the emblem should be deals damage equal to "converted mana cost"
Not to criticize your work, but I am kind of a rules stickler and have been working on a design project where I am usually the one to point out the little templating problems like this.
