spiked shield - B/G

instant

Kicker 3BB

Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt from target player this turn, if the kicker cost is paid, all combat damage that would be dealt from that player this turn, goes back to that player instead.

There's no real reason for this card to be hybrid, as Fog effects have moved out of Black's portion of the color pie, with Darkness being a lone exception.

"Goes back to that player instead" is horrible templating.

Players can't deal damage, there is no damage "from a player".

Could be worded better, but I see the point. Mana cost is definitely high enough. Would be interisting if you could direct the damage to a creature if you wanted to. Target creature or player. Also, this sounds like it should have red in it. G/R as the instant, and GGRR as the kicker.

spiked shield should cost just G instead.

TurboFagoot:

green to prevent the damage and black to give it back to the player that has attacked, so i meant all combat damage of all creatures the attacking player controlls.

RickyHoeppner:

red would be better, so replace all B with R.

But the spell only does black things if you pay black into the kicker.

A hybrid spell should do things that each of the colors can do on it's own. If you cast it just for B, and then kick it just for B, you can do green things with no green in your deck.

TurboFagoot:i said in my previous comment: Spiked shield should cost just G instead.

green cannot counter combat damage on its own, nor can red, they need to work together to do that.

just to clarify, the color black has been replaced with red in this spell.

there should be more spells that can counter combat damage.

what about the wording:

Kicker GGRR

prevent all combat damage that would be dealt by creatures of target player this turn, if you paid the kicker cost, counter all damage by creatures of target player instead.

What about this wording?
Spiked Shield G
Instant
Kicker 2RR (I thought that this part didnt feel green and that it was too mana intensive)
Prevent all damage that sources target player controls would deal this turn. If ~ was kicked, that player loses life equal to the damage prevented this way.

Make it G/W hybrid instead.

White has both fog effects and damage redirection.

Or hell, just white lol Why even make it green?

if it's red. then it should be "~ deals that much damage to target player instead."if it's black then it should be "lose that much life instead"

I reckon it should cost 1W unkicked and the kicker cost should be 2W. Compare it to Fog : it only prevents damage from sources opponents control and has extra versatility with the kicker cost. You don't want the card to dramatically overpowered.

Spiked Shield - 1W

Kicker 2W

Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn by creatures target opponent controls. If Spiked Shield was kicked, deal damage to that opponent equal to the amount of damage prevented this way.
