And besides, Prophet of Kruphix has no disadvantages as far as I can see, besides having a really small body for the cost.

A 5 mana enchantment that does nothing on its own doesn't need a downside particularly.

Why not this for 
:
Whenever you cast a creature spell, exile it under ~.
At the beginning of the combat step on your turn, put any number of creature cards exiled under ~ onto the battlefield tapped and attacking.

I think technically it's at a different time in the combat phase but you know, that can be easily remedied.

why not just have creatures you control deal damage to opponents equal to their power when they enter the battlefield?

This would be extremely awkward on your opponent's attack step. Not sure if that would even work. Maybe something like this?

You may cast creature spells as if they had flash.
If you would cast a creature spell during combat on your turn, that creature enters the battlefield tapped and attacking.
