So I am in the process of making my first EDH Deck and have decided to go with Doran as I figure Treefolk would be fun. I have put some Saproling/Fungus cards in it as well but I am wondering if I should shy away or add more. Any help whatsoever would be much appreciated."When-Trees-attack"

my friend ran a doran edh deck and he had a fair number of defenders in his just cause they assign damage with the toughness instead of power. but he also had a fair number of creatures that could also attack. so... just take it with a grain of salt, plus the creatures dont have to be the same type. just sayin :P

Yeah, I thought about doing the defender thing originally, but there are not enough cards that animate defenders. I know all the creatures don't have to be the same type, but I find it fun when they are. Weird, I know. Thanks for your info though!

Well, the good thing about Doran is the fact it turns toughness into power. So even cards like Grizzled Leotau become solid options. Turn 2 Leotau, turn 3 Doran, swing for 5, 10 next turn etc. etc...

I ran a quick Gatherer search for cards that add toughness, which is generally a pretty cheap effect. For you of course they are adding power and toughness... There are some pretty broken cards in there! I like card:Belbe's Armor, for instance... card:Accorder's Shield is nasty too... Ensouled Scimitar gives +5/+5 or becomes a 5/5 flier...

(oh, and add in Indomitable Ancients and Timber Protector if you can - they are lovely lovely cards with Doran)

Have fun!

Thanks Saint! I already have Indomitable Ancients and Timber Protecter in there. And Belbe's Armor would be nasty....
