TheFoilAjani are you guys still doing the point restricted thing?

Huppster05 Probably not, as making a points list generally only works when a card pool is super large. A points list for standard is pretty useless if there are only a couple pointed cards.

I refuse to reveal what I have done if only because it uses such busted cards that I feel like i would skew the results of how many people played this type of deck.

@Ashockfan You are entitled to deck privacy just like at any tournament, just double-check to make sure your deck is legal beforehand (it probably is not saying I doubt you). I'd like to say one thing though- if later on you choose to post your deck, say for advice, we will be certain to make sure no one else uses the same type of deck from the same standard for this tournament.

Oh nonono I don't mean not giving you guys the decklist at all for the tourni. I just mean i'm gonna wait till everyone turns in their decks so that their thought process can't be altered by my choices and uncoverings

The only reason why I revealed mine is because I net decked it but I want advice on how to maybe customize it so it better fits the format, and I hardly know where to start with that.
Also, if anyone wants to test I'm game.

@Ashockfan Ok cool, I misunderstood
As of now I am planning on making an innistrad standard deck in the spirit (no pun intended) of shadows coming out.

Holy shit that gobo list looks a lot better than my Ball lightnings list... even though I have much better late game and SB I'm pretty sure yours is better.

I'm admittedly up to remaking my heroic deck I used to have. Would love to figure out how it stands up to the rest of these!

Starting next Wednesday I have around 2 weeks off of school. During that time, with some help and hopefully a gauntlet partner (any takers?) I want to go through each standard and extract the top tier decks from them (and any additional cool stuff we want to try) and playtest the shit out of all of them, holding mini "tournaments" as much as possible where you have a list of the decks we've come up with to choose from. This way we can build a first "metagame" for the format and figure out which strategies are working and which aren't top tier.
Additionally, this will help all of us build sideboards because there will be "expected matchups"
To do this, I propose the tappedout discord. Not only will it help us talk about specific standards and card choices (something that would be bad to spam this thread with) but also if there are multiple people online, we can turn on the talk channels, which should lead to a much more productive brewing/testing session.
Lmk what you think! I figure I might as well try and take a bit of a leadership role in getting the meta figured out as I have been building decks for a while, and conveniently have this break the next couple weeks :D

My reasoning for wanting to speed up so rapidly is twofold: 1) we have been advertising this format and have a close group of players that love it, but we admittedly haven't been very active. Let's say one of the places we got the format advertised (like on that YouTube vid) gets good feedback and people want to check the format out. They come here, what do they see? A tentative banned list, and no defined metagame that they can use as a starting point. It's likely that they won't pursue it as much as if we had all those things.
2) people like new things. It causes buzz and excitement. People also like keeping up that excitement even when it threatens to die down. Take this past rotation for example. People were excited about OGW. They were hyped. Then it died down, and the twin ban was announced for modern. So everyone freaked out again and the "new stuff" hype continued. Then modern was shit, and standard got boring, but hey! SOI spoilers started early already! Let's get hyped about that! You see my point. There have just been crazy shake ups to standard and modern, and people will be hooked for some time. However, when this excitement dies down a little, it's a perfect time for a new format to arise and catch people's attention. Because of that, we should push to complete the first wave of testing by sometime close to the start of May
Lmk your opinions :D

My last exam is Friday of next week, then I have nothing going on except for a scg regionals the Sunday, then I have work training (aka nothing), so I can test all afternoon for that entire week.

BTW. I'm working on some official spreadsheets and whatever but did Derpachus Do well with his Splinter Twin Deck?
I want to know if I should add it to the "known good decks" section...
Ill link all the stuff i'm doing when it's ready
April 14, 2016 8:16 p.m.
OK Guys. bananamaniaman, AwesomeName, TheFoilAjani, I have some official stuff!
Here's the spreadsheet I made as a Hub to keep track of known decks and deck Ideas. In the future when we start testing these I'm gonna make a separate page ranking each deck based on tier and stating it's good matchups and bad matchups, as we will have a defined meta to base that off of:

Request access to edit with your tappedout name and I'll gladly accept all of you guys.
And now, The Discord Channel!
https://discord.gg/0wzIQDrUnAo4dNOc
Click on this link and you will be added to the discord channel I made for the shelf format, where (hopefully) all this testing will be going on. You don't need to have an account to join it, but once you're there you will have the option of making an account for other reasons. Hurry tho, cuz this link is only valid for the first 24 hours after I post this. :D

Cool! I got onto the discord, but my access was denied to view the spreadsheet, are you sure you set it to be viewable to everyone?
April 14, 2016 9:21 p.m.
Oh yea forgot to do that. Now you can request access I think. :D
April 14, 2016 9:25 p.m.
I'd just like to say that I am very interested in this format, and would like to help test it out if at all possible.
