Warden of the Chained

Creature — Minotaur Warrior

Trample

Warden of the Chained can't attack unless you control another creature with power 4 or greater.

ClockworkSwordfish Thank you for the great ideas! I don't know how Gruul Spellbreaker escaped my attention, that one is quite a notch better than Warden of the Chained. I also agree with you, that the deck could use a bit of adaptability, so I included your suggestions into a sideboard :)

Druidey on Edited Stomp Stomp Correctly?

I am a new player to MTG Arena and MTG in general, I have found some success with the standard deck Stomp Stomp.

I had a few legendries I thought I could add to improve the deck further and add some more fun cards to play.

Full deck https://mtgazone.com/deck/stomp-stomp-new-player-experience/

The cards I removed were...

1 Dreamstalker Manticore 1 Hornbash Mentor 1 Warden of the Chained

The cards I added were....

Garruk, Unleashed Polukranos, Unchained Nissa of Shadowed Boughs

I have had some success with Garruk as he adds creatures / adds power to creatures which suits a deck already designed to add power to creatures. Also had success with Polkuranos linking up with Terror of the Peaks.

Questions - Do these cards suit the deck in the long term? and could there be any drawbacks?

Appreciate this could be subjective but just want to make sure I have not completely destroyed the deck power/harmony.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Rainmaker217 on Modern Midrange Mardu Minotaur

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it :) Unfortunately 'drop white, go aggro' is precisely what I did not want to hear, haha. There's plenty of aggressive minotaur strategies and I wanted to try for the opposite. So I think I'll be taking out Neheb the Worthy and replacing it with stuff that aids the control/stall/value package.

Maybe dropping black and adding blue allows for more card draw and counterspells, but all the minotaurs that take advantage of blue are older than modern or illegal in it, like Etherium-Horn Sorcerer.

Trading black for green, however, allows additional ramp, some Warden of the Chained, Eldritch Evolution and The Great Henge for more value. I prefer Mardu Charm over Naya Charm, however.

Keeping it Boros allows for a more spell-heavy exploitation and maybe abuse Smelt-Ward Minotaur and Boros Battleshaper to allow for small strategic advantages (and Domri's Ambush).

Finally, in whichever color base, I could lean more heavily on the white with things like Revitalize and maybe find a spot for Healing Grace (and if adding green, Captured Sunlight to give those minotaurs a wholesome bent. There's also some changelings I could add in, like Universal Automaton and Adaptive Automaton to streamline the curve.

For now I'll hold off on fetch lands, but maybe a bounce land or two would help out getting to more mana quicker?

Grumgully, the Generous strikes me as a particularly good card, since it gives a counter to any of our creatures. I think that a more midrange-y build with it, Warden of the Chained , Skarrgan Hellkite and a good ramp package might be more successful, but that is reserved for test batch 3.

The big problem cards are the ones that brickwall the attack - Knight of the Ebon Legion is a prime example. A T1 Knight makes it impossible to attack by turn three unless the appropriate creature is drawn with 4 power or more.
