DemonDragonJ on Why Have There Been So …

Defensive cards have always been a part of the game, but I have noticed that recent defensive cards have been instants and sorceries, rather than permanents; of course, Teferi's Protection, Flawless Maneuver, and Flare of Fortitude are all excellent cards, but the fact that they are instants requires a player to spend additional resources to reuse them, which I dislike; when was the last time that there was a card such as Story Circle, Righteous Aura, or Martyr's Cause, which are all permanents, so players can easily reuse their abilities; recently, WotC did print Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Avacyn, Guardian Angel, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, or any version of Sigarda, but they are the exception, rather than the norm, for defensive cards, so I very much would like to see a greater frequency of permanents that protect players and prevent damage.
What does everyone else say about this? Why have there been so few defensive permanents, recently, or am I simply complaining and seeing only what I wish to see?

Now for my second favorite color.
I absolutely love Prison Term I put this in every deck that has white.
The player with Impact Tremors doesnt want to see this next one. Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker, this card is kinda like No Mercy that's another one I must add to my black decks). There is a white version of No Mercy I forget what it's called. It doesn't destroy them like No Mercy. It instead turns them into "statues" sorta.
This next one whould not be good enough if it wasn't for flash. Temporal Isolation
Righteous Aura is soo frickin good. It gets around hexproof, ward and shroud.

Righteous Aura has not been reprinted in a long time, so I definitely would like to see it reprinted, in this set.
Akroma's Memorial, Door to Nothingness, and The Immortal Sun could all use reprints, to keep them available an inexpensive.
DemonDragonJ on Does WotC Still Support Defensive …

Daveslab2022, what about cards such as Story Circle or Righteous Aura or the protection and hexproof mechanics? Why has WotC been so stingy with those, recently?

I want to double down on what ClockworkSwordfish said. Righteous Aura is so good. It get around hexproof and Shroud.

Newer considerations: Moon-Blessed Cleric Maybe even good blink target in Ephara. And taking a deeper look at Righteous Aura that thing could do some serious work.

ClockworkSwordfish -- nice I get what you are saying about Righteous Aura. I really need to add this to my enchantress deck. I could picture this saving my bacon in alot of games. In addition it could be a great political enchantment for combat-filled games, where an opponent will not even bother with you with a beefy threat when you have open. Particularly if they need a dmg trigger.
