Thanks for the feedback on my dromoka deck, this is my first try at commander, do you have any advice on number of lands to run / what to cut?

Besides High Market there's lots of ways to sac Child of Alara. Devour Flesh, Momentous Fall, Worthy Cause, and all sorts of other stuff.

I'd consider Strip Mine effects, 2-3 of them, just to hit any pesky utility lands. Since you're mono-colour they don't really slow you down.

With Sunstone and Glacial Chasm I've found Crucible of Worlds to be a lifesaver, but it is certainly not a cheap addition and may not be essentially to your build. Something to consider if you want to keep building it up.

I agree with the comment calling for more ramp. With a 7cmc Commander you're going to need a lot of it. You can start simple: Sol Ring, Fellwar Stone, Orzhov Signet, Rakdos Signet, and Boros Signet. The monuments help, but only for creature spells. If you're trying to stay in Amonkhet block, you have pretty much Manalith. But if that is the case then at least add that!

One of those lands should really be a Bojuka Bog.

August 18, 2017 6:37 p.m.

Welcome to the format! My very first suggestion is going to be to add 3 more lands and another/different piece of ramp. With a 7cmc commander you want to hit your land drops, because if Teysa dies a few times she gets incredibly expensive. 1x Swamp 1x Plains 1x Bojuka Bog will do wonders I think. The Bog is especially important, b/c people reply on their graveyards so much in EDH and this clears one out w/o using a spell slot. I'd also recommend an Orzhov Signet. Three of your other ramp pieces don't do anything until turn 4 at the earliest, and this is a nice cheap color fixer.

Something I think you're going to find as you play this is that the targeted hand removal over a single opponent isn't very good. In a multiplayer format, using a spell to make one person out of three or four discard a single card is a bit of a negative gain for you, and isn't going to be actively working towards the decks goals. Instead of a Coercion, you can play Liliana's Specter and get everyone to discard a card and have a creature on the battlefield for the same cost. Its not targeted, but in most games I think the overall effect will be better. Unnerve and Syphon Mind are the other two good discard spells I can recommend in general.

Since you're running Debt to the Deathless, Exsanguinate is an excellent back-up to that. Gray Merchant of Asphodel will always drain each opponent for at least two, and often he is a blowout if you can keep replaying him.

I think Stir the Grave should be replaced with either Phyrexian Reclamation or Whip of Erebos. PR makes it easy to get back your creatures if you don't have Teysa to make tokens and can be used over and over again. Whip exiles the creature, but does give everyone lifelink which is also what you want. But both can be used more than once. Sepulchral Primordial is a cool way to get back opponents best creatures.

Those are just some of my thoughts on what will make this a more enjoyable deck for you to pilot. If you already have the cards in your list, I 100% suggest you play a few games, see what works and what doesn't, and then re-evaluate the advice people post here. We wouldn't be asking for advice if we were already perfect either!

Blood Moon was suggested somewhere else and its definitely something I need to grab a copy of. I don't want to cut Stranglehold atm though, b/c in my local playgroup I see Tooth and Nail at least once a night. I might try a swap with Chandra.

You should be running Ghost Quarter type effects to deal with pesky utility lands. Along the same lines but on-theme is Shivan Harvest. Getting rid of a Maze of Ith and a creature is a sweet deal.

The thing about discard is that even if you're only hitting one person with it, everyone knows after that target you'll have to find another. Especially if you're basically running discard tribal. Thats just the drawback of the strategy, you're going to be archenemy (well, graveyard decks will love you). Its part of why mono-B isn't discard focused as much as multiple colors, where you get effects like Nath of the Gilt-Leaf.

Make everyone discard, have lots of ways to kill things they land and aim at you, and add in Living Death/Rise of the Dark Realms as a wincon. That seems to be the winning plan for mono-B discard.

Shifting Shadow from C17 looks like a great addition.

Withering Wisps is good, I'd move it from the maybeboard to main deck.

Not Tomer, but I'm watching the stream! In a multiplayer format, focusing on abilities that hit multiple opponents will serve you much better than single shot effects like Bloodhusk Ritualist.

Along with Bottomless Pit, Creeping Dread and Necrogen Mists trigger over and over again. Cunning Lethemancer is the creature version.

Earsplitting Rats, Miasmic Mummy, Rotting Rats, & Sibsig Icebreakers are more good ETB creatures. Since you're also running Merchant, a Conjurer's Closet can get you a lot of value. Stronghold Rats is nice consistent discard with damage. With your Commander, all this discard is not a hindrance at all to you.

You may also want to add some cheaper wrath effects like Mutilate or Languish. It wont take long for people to want to gang up on you!

Hows Tibalt going? Hammer of Purphoros gives haste if your Commander isn't in play.

36 lands is as low as I'd want to go here. So if I were going to cut 5 cards, they might include the following.

Cached Defenses/Dromoka's Gift - I don't like the cards that only Bolster, since you can't pick your target and they only affect one creature.

Sandsteppe Mastodon - Very powerful, but as a one time ability on a high costing card I'm not a fan.

Dromoka Captain - I feel like this will take too many attacks before it starts generating real value, and on its first attack is so easy to block and kill.

Not Forgotten - Pretty narrow at sorcery speed.

There are some other cards I'd consider making swaps for too, but I think these are less important than upping our lands first. But some choices:

Naga Vitalist/Druid of the Cowl/Honored Hierarch - These could be Rampant Growth, Kodama's Reach, or Cultivate. Things that put lands into play are usually better in Commander, since board wipes are so common. The Rishkar, Peema Renegade mentioned earlier would be the only creature I would really consider here, but thats just me.

Celestial Flare/Swift Reckoning - Looking at removal, Blessed Alliance has a little more flexibility. Beast Within is a little costly, but its one of the best things green can run since it hits everything. Sylvan Reclamation fixes land, or gets rid of two problem artifacts or enchantments, very useful! Ainok Survivalist is another possible option, again b/c you don't have many things to deal with artifacts or enchantments. Caustic Caterpillar is worth a look too.

If you already have the cards in your list, then try them out before swapping over this is all just general thoughts since I haven't played the deck. Adding those lands is really my #1 desire.

August 5, 2017 5:01 p.m.

Those 7 cost megamorphs seem very ambitious with only 29 lands. I'd really consider adding quite a few more.

Rishkar, Peema Renegade is also really good in this deck.
