Thanks for the quick response, all the points you made make sense now that I think about it. I'm just happy someone else out there likes to play combo/alternate wincon decks also, people in my playgroup just hate my decks for it.

BTW, if you don't mind could you take a look at my Modern Protean Hulk deck and let me know what you think of it. You can find it by the name of: The Mistake WotC Made By Unbanning Protean Hulk. (I'm still working on the sideboard for it also.)

I'm happy to see people still love combos. Have you considered Mindbreak Trap on the sideboard for Storm and Ravenous Trap for graveyard decks. And possibly sideboarding Solemnity , people would never expect Phyrexian Unlife + Solemnity combos G2 against Ad Nauseam . Don't know if it would be worth it, but it wouldn't be expected and chances are they will not add in enchantment hate and if you pull it off you definitely buy yourself a ton of time.

I would prefer sideboarding most actual land destruction spells, since they are usually 3 drops and a ton of decks can already function on 1-3 lands (ex: Burn, Infect, Affinity, any deck with Aether Vial ). Also splashing black for things like Evil Presence and Contaminated Grounds may be worth it although I don't know if they would be worth adding.

Maybe Aquitect's Will and why not try using Fast Lands... Copperline Gorge , Botanical Sanctum , and Spirebluff Canal .

I'm not sure it deserves a main board slot, but something else to consider is Waste Not . Against creature decks it could simply act as a wincon.

I would recommend a playset of Leyline of the Void on the sideboard. If not a playset definitely 2 for the Grafdigger's Cage .

Reasons:

1) it makes Snapcaster Mage a pretty dead card

2) it turns off the Delve mechanic

3) it turns off Tarmogoyf

4) it turns off the Mindslaver Academy Ruins lock in Mono-Blue Tron

5) enchantments are much harder to get rid of than artifacts

6) it turns off the UR Gifts Ungiven Storm deck (quite good)

7) it turns off Bridge from Below

8) etc, etc, etc

The first thing I read on your homepage here was "build decks to make my friends hate me"... I totally aprove. Isn't that when you know your decks are actually good? YES, OF COURSE IT IS!!!

First off very understandable that the deck was confusing, until I became a combo player decks like these made no sense to me at all. I don't see many burn match ups so I can't say much there, but I would assume that those match ups to be a 50/50 being that my draws will be much more consistent and can usually win at the same speed. Dredge might be a little fast for this deck. Humans seems like a decent match up unless they drop a Meddling Mage . Being a control player I will just say that any deck will be much slower/inconsistent against a control deck played correctly.

Thanks for the feedback/questions on the deck saturn999.

I would cut Uncaged Fury for Temur Battle Rage , Skeleton Key for Commune with the Gods , and Rugged Highlands for 4 basic lands of your choice. Also 1 Explore , 2 Goldnight Castigator , and 1 Vessel of Nascency for a playset of Lightning Bolt . Finally maybe 3 Anger of the Gods on the sideboard.

Future Upgrades and/or More Expensive Upgrades:

1) Grove of the Burnwillows

2) Stomping grounds

3) Wooded Foothills

4) Blood Moon (sideboard)

Yeah, Krenko is definitely a good/simple card to build your 1st EDH deck around, not to mention he can be made very cheaply. I'll take a look at your other mono red deck too.

Like the idea of the deck interesting combo you have there, but it seems very inconsistent.

BTW, sorry I posted the same comment twice. Tapped Out wasn't working correctly for a little while (my bad).

First off Taplands are going to hurt every deck so cut at least 2 Crypt of Agadeem , 4 Fetid Pools , maybe 1 Dakmor Salvage , and 2 Watery Grave (you shouldn't need that many). Add 4 Polluted Delta and basic lands. Also Bitter Ordeal isn't that great honestly unless built around. The first time I saw it I thought I could just do a ton of self-milling with it, but the permanents need to enter the graveyard from the battlefield (which makes it useless unless built around even in a very graveyard oriented deck). Also I would add 4 Damping Sphere to the sideboard, it 100% turns off Tron and Storm and slows other decks down. Finlly Sinister Concoction is a cool card, but seems too slow. I would recommend cutting it for 4 Fatal Push .

First off I'm going to assume this is more of a casual Modern deck due to the cmc'c of the creatures. If it isn't I would recommend making sure the majority of the creatures is 1 and 2 drops, but for casual it seems quite cool (I love tribal decks). Next, I'm not sure if you are on a budget, but if you aren't Thoughtseize is simply the best discard spell ever printed (not terribly expensive). Also Inquisition of Kozilek is the next best, but if you are in a more casual play group rather than a turn 4 play group it may not be as good (still good though). Finally, if this is more of a "good" casual Modern deck with the Festering Newt and Bubbling Cauldron combo you should probably include Bogbrew Witch .

Devoid: best mechanic since it supported the Eldrazi (even though it did little to nothing). Every Eldrazi Tribal player gets that, but no one else.

Now thinking about it if you like Eldrazi another deck you may like is Eldrazi and Taxes. It's actually pretty competitive and can be made much cheaper with just a few cuts. (One of my favorite, being that I'm a huge fan of the Eldrazi and of Control decks.)

I do agree with you on that, big nasty creatures always seemed like a better use of money than one time use lands.

BTW... If you like big nasty creatures and don't like the idea of spending a lot of money on lands you might really enjoy TRON. The deck is based around Urza's Power Plant , Urza's Mine , and Urza's Tower which are used to usually get extremely huge threats on the board by turn 3-6. It's a pretty good deck and has a lot of ways you can build it, the Tooth and Nail build is my favorite. (Use Tooth and Nail to cheat out Xenagos, God of Revels and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn making a 30/30 Flying, Haste, Protection from colored spells, Eldrazi.)

I like the deck idea, but the only thing that I would say is "bad" about it is that it looks way too slow. You have to many 2 and 3 drops that rely on Instant and Sorceries (only 1/3 of your deck). Also Shrine of Burning Rage will never do enough damage for it to be worth 5 mana (casting cost and activated ability). The main reason a budget deck of Mono-Red Burn usually won't work is because the best lists already have a fairly hard time closing out the game, they can get a lot of damage in fast, but usually can't get the win. In other words a budget of the best list which is not too great will probably be "bad." I LIKE THE IDEA OF THE DECK THOUGH, USING INTERESTING/WEIRD CARDS. (The first 10 or so deck ideas I had for modern that I explained to Modern players that seemed good at first glance like this always ended up being to slow. This is probably what you're having happen to you right now. The deck idea is not bad, but it just won't work in reality.)

BTW... If you are looking for more "mid-range/late-game"games then like I have said previously EDH would be the best place to start. (I'm trying to get into Modern, but like every other EDH player would say EDH (Commander) is 100% the best format.)
