Whitehamma yeah! he can also easily go infinite!

Ashnod's Altar + Ghave, Guru of Spores + Undying from Mikaeus + any creature that doesn't already come in with +1/+1 counters.

Sac a creature with undying to the alter, get 2 mana, spend one to remove the +1/+1 counter on the undying and repeat! Infinite mana, inifite saproling tokens! >:)

I definitely think that Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is a better fit for Ghave than Mikaeus, the Lunarch ! Everything having undying means that you'll be in no shortage of +1/+1 counters and for less effort than the Lunarch. You can even use all of Ghave's counters when the Unhallowed is out and then he'll come back with 6 counters instead of the usual 5!

I hope you find this advice useful! I love Ghave! he was my first commander :)

Oh man. I was just using the alter macro built in, but doing what you said worked perfectly. Thank you!

I am trying to create an EDH deck with a custom commander, and have uploaded the appropriate alter. However, it is not showing up. I feel like I am missing something very simple but couldn't find the answer on Google.

Currently I have my commander as shown:

1x Atogatog A: 17161 CMDR

but shows up as standard Atogatog. This seems to be what I am supposed to do. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
