Dreadnaught33, that sounds great! I've actually been considering running a few Reflector Mages in my mainboard because what I didn't realize at first is that it frees up space in my sideboard, which I could use to try something like Nissa, Steward of Elements. Let me know how it goes, I'd be interested in your results!

Hey man- I'm taking my version of knightfall to a 4 round thing at a competitive store tonight with the 3 mage main plan. I'll let you know how it goes! It's all updated to what I'm actually bringing here- http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/07-03-17-Eul-bant-knightfall/

No problem clayperce! I really like seeing people play interesting, less popular decks competitively, and I also really liked seeing you record your progress with the deck. Good luck with Ponza!

I've looked into it actually. My friend Fooo has a collection breaching 180+ of them, so that got me thinking if they'd actually be good. The conclusion: I doubt it, but maybe it's worth a try. There are several reasons I'm not super keen on Smuggler's Copter, the first being that it isn't human. I really think it is cool that it can be a flying threat that helps filter out topdecked lands, but it not scaling up with the rest of our creatures can become a problem. In addition to this, it doesn't work well with Thalia, Guardian of Thraben or Brave the Elements, or the Stony Silences in the sideboard (noteworthy because the only nonland we end up boarding out against Affinity is Brave the Elements since it is almost entirely dead and for lack of things to bring in, so we wouldn't have anything to bring in if we boarded this out). Also, filtering out land draws when we can use them to gain true card advantage in the long run by cracking clues may not pay off (I may be wrong here, just a hypothesis). That being said, it could potentially shore up a few of the deck's weaknesses. As you said, it mimics the idea of manlands and how they can survive a boardwipe, though with Copter you would need to have follow up creatures. One thing I'm wondering is if this would actually help the Affinity matchup since it is a colorless flyer, being able to block every creature in Affinity, or if it being dead weight with a Stony Silence on the field is too problematic. I may end up trying it, I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!

Welcome to magic! Pretty sweet prerelease deck, Liliana, Death's Majesty, The Scorpion God, and Torment of Hailfire are pretty great cards. I don't believe you are able to play Resolute Survivors and Decimator Beetle except off of your 1 of Manalith. Are they consistent enough? If they aren't, I'd recommend either cutting them from the deck or swapping a mountain and a swamp for a plains and a forest. Good luck!

I've actually been quite happy with my ability to cast Mayor, I very rarely have problems casting him. Boros Elite is too often a lackluster 1 drop that doesn't activate too often, and when it doesn't activate it is practically dead. Mana Tithe hasn't been too bad honestly. It's a 1 for 1, but I've had decent success with it and can almost always trade with a card througout the game at the very worst. I've looked hard for something I'd replace it with, but I honestly haven't been able to find anything. It fills a few roles in the deck surprisingly well (extra turn 1 play, extra protection, makes my hand harder to read if it was already revealed in the last game or 2). I agree that I rarely want to be leaving up mana, but as with almost any deck, there will likely be room to hold up 1 mana for an instant, and having potentially 3 options instead of 2 has been good.

I was thinking the same thing with Fatal Push. Though Dismember is helpful since you can cast it for a colorless or white if need be.

Very cool to see the making of a competitive Warrior Tribal deck. I also like the thought you've put into this, and I think it is cool that you've been looking into how it matches up against other tribal decks in the format (though I may disagree on your Mono-White Humans analysis). I do have a few questions if that's all right. First, your manabase has only 1 Cavern of Souls. I take it that this is to have only 5 colorless sources of mana (at least for spells) and to get an extra uncounterable effect, correct? With your fetches, do you use Windswept Heaths and the Flooded Strand as a budget option for Marsh Flats? Sweet deck, good luck with the build!

Your brew is really interesting. I never would expect Inkmoth Nexus out of Knightfall, but being able to have an alternate win condition must be helpful in select situations. At worst it's a flying chump blocker that you can tutor with Knight of the Reliquary.

Chord of Calling is a super interesting choice for this. Fiend Hunter is interesting. Do you feel there is a benefit running Fiend Hunter over Reflector Mage? Inkmoth Nexus is incredibly spicy, how has that worked out for you and how often does it get there?

Welcome to magic! I definitely like Grixis (Blue/Black/Red), and you picked a great time to get into that color combination! If I may give you some advice, the best decks and the decks that have meaningful interactions and are fun to play with often have a theme going for them, whether that would be cycling, spells, or hard control, I think deciding which direction you want to lean in and then keeping that in mind when choosing what to add would be a great way to begin upgrading your list. Good luck with your build!

I see that you put Nissa from the mainboard to the sideboard. What spurred you to change your mind on that? Also, what do you feel Reflector Mage gives you mainboard that makes it better than Courser of Kruphix and Tireless Tracker mainboard? Just want to pick your brain as you appear to be a veteran Knightfall player, at least in comparison to me. I opted to play Reflector Mage out of the sideboard and use the 2 Coursers to help against aggro and the Tracker to work in grindy matchups, but maybe you feel these aren't as necessary or relevant?

I've been playing it for about a month, but I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the deck. You can always take a look at what I'm doing with my list, but in regards to the Spell Queller vs. Reflector Mage dilemma, I prefer having Spell Quellers in the mainboard and Reflector Mage in the sideboard. While Reflector Mages are really good in a lot of matchups, you can usually already win a lot of those matchups game 1 with Spell Quellers, and Spell Queller is a much better catch all answer and helps a lot against some of the more poor matchups like combo or decks that catching one spell when they are off guard can cause their gameplan to crumble (taking a pay-off card in Affinity, for example). However, I definitely like Reflector Mage coming in from the sideboard to help clean up after game 1 against creature decks or help us contend with Eldrazi Tron and Death's Shadow. I am curious though, what decks were you considering bringing in Meddling Mage against? Would it be to help against combo?

No problem, happy to help! I prefer to play a 1 of Bojuka Bog in the sideboard for tutoring with Knight

Doesn't Grafdigger's Cage turn off your Collected Companys? Or do you board out the CoCos when you board in the Cages?
