Firstly, the Shaman only has an activated ability. Only triggered abilities ever trigger.
To answer the question, you can certainly continue to activate the ability before any of it resolves. Whenever you have priority, you can cast an instant spell or a spell with flash, activate an ability, or, if the stack is empty and it's your turn, cast any other spell or play a land.
When you add something to the stack, you can choose to either pass priority to let your opponent respond if they wish, or retain priority and add something else to the stack. However, before anything on the stack resolves, a full round of priority must be passed with no action.
