Slaughter Games How Does it work?

Asked by JustLikeFM 11 years ago

So let's say I play Slaughter Games on turn 4 and all I have seen of this other deck I'm playing against is land. I could guess for something like Thragtusk and I would probably be able to search for Thragtusk s cause who isn't playing em these days. But what If I name a card that is not in their decks. Do I still get to see every single card in their deck and hand? Also, could I for instance write down their deck so I can see what they have in their deck?

edit: My guesses on all these questions are yes, but I'd like to be 100% sure before I start spewing guesses at my local FNM.

You'd probably be able to make an educated guess about what card is likely in that deck that you'd want to remove, but even if you name a card that isn't included, you still get to search the entire library, and hand. I don't know if you could write down the whole decklist, but you'd probably just want to keep a mental note of what card to target next time you cast one. If you're unsure about what you're up against, you could always just play it as a sideboard card, and sub it in for games 2 and 3.

Well, that's what I'm trying to decide; whether I want it in my main- or sideboard. Probably main, cause even then I would know exactly what to side in if casted in game 1. I'm thinking about going from golgari into jund just for this card.

You could choose anything, then even if it's in their deck "fail to find" a card.

As long as you name a nonland card that is in the format you are playing, you're fine. If they don't have it in their deck, there is no issue. And as one person mentioned even if it is in their deck you are allowed to fail to find it.
