's ability involves sacrificing it as a 'cost' to play that specific ability. If you sacrifice it to Maw of the Obzedat
, then you are paying the Maw's 'cost', not the Apparition's. Your creatures would get +1/+1, but you would not be able to destroy anything.
The wording you are looking for is "When this creature dies..." As there is no 'cost' implied there. For example, if you sacrificed Wurmcoil Engine
, you would still get 2 3/3 wurm tokens.
