Bearer of the Heavens

Asked by naejin 9 years ago

After the Bearer of the Heavens goes to the graveyard, and when the beginning of the next End Step occurs, can players respond by tapping for mana before their permanents (including lands) are destroyed? Tapping for mana is faster than instant speed or something I thought.

I'm asking to find out if I can cast one last spell to put mana in my pool to cast an instant after everything goes to the graveyard.

Yes you may do this. Mana abilities (abilities that produce mana, do not target, and are not planeswalker abilities) do not use the stack and occur immediately. Of course, even if they did use the stack they would resolve before the Bearer of the Heavens trigger resolves while it's on the stack.

Mana empties from pools at the end of every step or phase, and the game doesn't move on to the next step or phase of the game until both players pass priority over an empty stack consecutively. So while you have prosperity after the trigger resolves, you may cast your spell using the mana you generated.

and are not planeswalker abilities

Technical detail: This should be "and are not loyalty abilities". It is possible for a non-planeswalker to have a loyalty ability. Apart from that, GreatSword, you are spot on.
