Problem With Multiple Paragraphs of Formatted Text

I use HTML tags to format text. I noticed a while back that if I leave an italics tag open between paragraphs and close it at the end of a second it will show correctly in the preview, but will close after the first paragraph in the actual post. I will sometimes do this when quoting multiple rules and always seem to forget about it until after posting. I am assuming that this is a "feature" to keep people who are not as familiar with HTML from turning the rest of the page bold or italic.

Do I need to just get used to making each paragraph bold/italic individually or is it possible to get around the auto closing tags by using page break tags in the text instead of using double spaces?

not really sure why anyone would use italics between paragraphs

I may be able to answer my own question.

This line should be italic.

So should this one.

I italicize quoted rules when answering questions in the Q & A section. Sometimes I will need to quote 2 or 3 in a row and will open the italics and leave them open. What made me think of this was actually my post in the "Stalking Tiger and Banding" question that is currently open. I quoted 2 rules and the preview showed both italic but it unitalicized the second in the post.

i think you should just use the blockquote syntax

702.21g Banding doesnt cause attacking creatures to share abilities, nor does it remove any abilities. The attacking creatures in a band are separate permanents.

702.21h If an attacking creature becomes blocked by a creature, each other creature in the same band as the attacking creature becomes blocked by that same blocking creature.

I haven't messed with it, is there a way to make it not bold and not larger? To just put the bar in on the side? I don't like such a jarring difference between the quoted text and the typed text. This may be a stylistic choice, and a wrong one at that since the bold and larger text makes it more obvious that it is a quote, but I just enjoy a more subtle delineation.

Also is the block quote syntax in the current version of the formatting tips? I haven't looked at them for about 2 years and until just now didn't know that there was block quote syntax available.

OK thank you. I may start using block quotes and just deal with it. My problem with just closing per paragraph is that I don't do it often enough to remember until after I actually post.

I admit that this is a minor inconvenience that may happen once a month brought about by the solution for a problem that happened probably daily if not more often. I was just wondering about a work around and block quotes may be it.
