Pauper Commander/EDH (PDH) illegal flag

Not sure if posted before, but when making a pauper commander/edh deck I found that using an uncommon as the general is considered illegal, despite the format being widely described as 'uncommon (or common) as your general'.
Is there a way to fix the illegal flag without removing the general I have chosen?

Im new to magic, but as far as I know, Your commander HAS to be a legendary creature or legendary planeswalker.
