Draft Sim - Any Future?

TappedOut forum

Has TappedOut given up on the draft sim, or is this an issue of the admins not having enough time? Is it an issue of not having enough community support?

Do you guys need help?

And if there is no future for the Draft Sim, is there another site that hosts live practice drafts?

What should the admins do? Some bug?

If it is about MYSCON and MYSTOR, expect a thread about that later today.

Thanks for your replies.

Femme_Fatale That makes sense. Even I, having very little insight into the work that must go into keeping the sim working, can understand how that could be a back-breaking task. I look forward to reading it!

yeaGO I have no idea if there is anything for the admins to do I'm just wondering why why no one seems to be using the sim. I took a break from magic & the site, and if there was news haven't found it in the forums.

Tappedout, as far as I know, is the only place you can practice draft against real people. It's such a great service I'm baffled there aren't a hundred comments a day saying thank you and can we please have some more. So: Thank you and everyone else who make this possible. Also can we please have some more?

insertcleverid: Arena is the current free (but requires a lot of grinding) drafting experience provided by wotc. That and phantom drafts on mtgo are also really cheap and they've been providing more experiences on there too. Basically competition happened, both from WotC and from other sites.

the live draft was never really as big as i thought it would be, even for the many years that it was basically the only such option on the internet. i think that people really just seem to prefer drafting solo.

you can try to start a draft and see if anyone joins--we put open lobbies on the front page when one is opened

Live drafting requires a lot of commitment and organization. It's not an automated queue system like arena or mtgo. There's also no pressure to do well or have any time limits or anything for solo drafting (like the solo drafts on arena). Tappedout also has no way of playing the decks against others, users have to use third party software to do so.

That all makes sense. I basically used it to waste time at work, where I'd probably not be able to install arena!

From what I remember of users who used to do a lot of live drafts, people would just flake really easily, like leave on the first 5 pics if things didn't go their way in the live draft. So that sort of thing also creates a negative environment where people don't even get any benefit or enjoyment out of a full live draft.

Well we did leave the timer to be something like 10 hours so i think it's possible to passively draft all day. We're still adding features like the ability to draft custom sets so as as far as im concerned its not dead, too bad if nobody bothers to use it i guess but we're maintaining it

Hey, I joined the site a few days ago to be able to cube draft with friends and am baffled at this thread. I thought of the draft simulator as the one big attraction point of this website, and that a LOT more people would look for a way to draft with human beings... That's basically the one thing Arena doesn't allow.

The simulator is mostly functional, but the inability (as far as I can see) to mask other people's picks at the end of a draft is a big liability for us. Any way to get around that ?

yeaGO: The above seems like a viable feature to have. Thoughts?
