Consider suspending inactive accounts?

Maybe after ~1 month of inactivity? Not sure to what extent, though; maybe just remove the binder page? Maybe remove the account altogether until the person comes back to reclaim it?

It may be pointless, but it's at least an interesting idea. What do you guys think?

I mean, I think inactive binders already stop generating matches and aren't visible anymore. I'm not really sure why we'd need to suspend accounts? I'm sure plenty of people come and go, that's kind of the nature of Magic.

I personally don't like this idea of deleting users because there are things that are still on inactive users that you can find (unique decklists, coding, combos,) or just use as a reminder.

Edit: If this does go into play, make it more than one month. Some of my camping trips take a bit more and I won't have any access and I would rather not have to recreate my profile every 4 months.

Delete inactive accounts after 2 years.

That's a huge amount of time so it allows for holidays and other personal things but it also helps to keep usernames free and available and clear up the site.

I agree with overeducated bourgeois, if this does fall through.

I brought up inactive trade binders here. There should be a system in place that stop inactive binders from showing up, but it's not working correctly at the moment.

I agree that you shouldn't suspend/delete the user's account. Having a system that makes you update your binder every 2-3 months, since your last update, could work.

Yes, Incative accounts after two years would be more like it. Sometimes I could be gone for up to a year at a time. Take my trip to Africa for example; it was 2.5 months before I could get a reliable internet connection. If we went with the 1 month rule, I would have had to start all over.

I would also agree on the 2 year thing. I've been dying to claim the ever elusive Nemesis name. :P

nemesis101- if you see that the guy with nemesis hasn't been active in a long time, you can ask yeago to free up the name. That's how I got my name
