Hello there I'm new to magic and hopefully this is the right chat to be in. Anyways I have a question hopefully you all can answer. First off I was very confused about the attacking and blocking part of combat phase. If I have a creature that is a 4/4 and another player attacks me with a 3/2 I block that attack. Now does my creature attack back and kill it or does it just block?

Hey friend. I'd check out the following resources:

http://magic.wizards.com/en/gameplay/how-to-play

http://magic.wizards.com/en/gameplay/rules-and-formats

And I'd also check out the app Magic Duels on iPhone or Steam. It's a great rules primer, even if it is way too simplistic once you have a few games under your belt.

Short answer to your question is: if that 3/2 attacks you, and you block with a 4/4, both creatures then deal damage equal to their power to the other creature. In this instance, your 4/4 would deal 4 damage to your opponent's 2 toughness, and their creature would die, while your 4 toughness would take 3 damage, meaning that until the turn is over your creature only has 1 toughness worth of "health" left. Hope that helps! Check out those web pages, too; they're the best place to get started.

Sweet sweet thanks for the help I appreciate that. I actually downloaded the app last night and was playing it. It definitely helping me and kinda confusing due to the fact that, the way I was taught to play I guess we just didn't go over the creature dealing damage back after it blocked your opponents move. I'll definitely take a look at those web pages. Thanks again!
