Block/Set limited pauper - what would you do?

So today while drafting at my local store, a couple were in the store who had just started playing Magic a week ago. They were very eager to play, but their collection was a box of random cards they had purchased for $10. Upon inspection it was all bulk commons from just Magic Origins and nothing else.

I didn't let that stop me from encouraging them. Especially knowing how powerful come Origins commons can be in a limited environment, renown can be a great ability. So I offered to build decks for him and his girlfriend (R/W Renown for him, G/B removal for her)

The great part about the box they had was they had playsets of almost every common card in Origins. The bad part of course was there was no other sets to pull from. What would you guys have built with limited Origins commons, and what other sets/blocks would make for fun limited pauper builds?

Return to ravnica block was awesome for pauper. Another thing you can try is standard pauper, i love that format, it's just like standard without the price tag lol you get rotation and New sets and all. Get a standard pauper league or something going, or just get a bunch of friends into it like I did

There is this thing called Standard Pauper, which is hte same as Standard, but uses only commons. Given that a deck of that can cost like 5 bucks with the necessary basics, it is awesome, as it pulls from various different sets. Set Pauper has basically zero appeal - a set is built as whole to work well in limited, limiting it to only commons kind of skews the balance.

tl;dr: Standard Pauper is awesome, try it out.
