As the title says, can you play a card that is legal in modern, but the expansion symbol on that edition of the card is pre-modern. Would be very thankful for an answer.

Yes, you can play Alpha Lightning Bolts in Modern.

As long as that card was printed in a set that is legal in the format (so this applies to Standard and Modern), you can play any edition of that spell.

Alpha Lightning Bolts are A-OK in modern.

EDIT: AndWelcomeToTheJam I don't know how we happen to use the same example, but you need to get out of my head. lol

One quick thing that I thought it might be useful to point out is you are not aloud to use gold bordered cards despite the fact that some of them may have been reprinted in a modern legal set.

But thats because gold bordered cards arent legal (or even real) cards at all. They are a money sink for collectors. Since we are already at it... ;)

Aren't the corners on Alpha cards cut differently, so not allowed? Obv overall you can play older shit, but I was under the impression Alpha was a no-no.

@lonker: Forum as opposed to a thread? I don't think you can I think an admin has to. You can make threads tho. But I don't think that's what your asking.
