Oh, and I'm officially going full route into Sexology. I held no interest in 1/2 of the classes for Cognitive Psychology so it was a no go.

December 16, 2014 5:50 p.m.

slovakattack says... #3

I know that feel. I have 3 term papers to get done in... 2 weeks. :x

That's about 130 odd pages of writing, and I still haven't done the research yet...

Sexology sounds pretty neat! What are the job opportunities like?

Also, before I forget: Glad to hear that you're alive :3

December 16, 2014 5:58 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #4

I've got no term papers here :D

I will when I get into the later years/grad studies though ...

No idea on the job opportunities actually, I'm going through each study area that is within my interests to see which I enjoy most. I should probably look up potential job prospects.

Later that is.

And don't forget I must do a huge java project over christmas woho!

AHHHH FEMME'S BACK

I'm having all my pre-Christmas, uh, excuse me, pre-holiday break tests and projects right now. I know that feel.

December 16, 2014 6:03 p.m.

Lol I like this. I have my last final tomorrow morning, so I shouldn't be taking the time to post on this thread, but what the heck. Final starts at 10 am, so that gives me a few hours to do the studying in the morning, right?

I know the feels Duck_of_doom and CommanderOfBolas. The time that I would have spent on T/O I ended up spending on TF2 ... thought I had gained enough responsibility to properly study. But nope! :D In fact, I just recently finished my Biology final which I probably got a C+ on or so. The only time I studied for that entire final was during the last few hours before the final started. I woke up at 12am to study through the midnight too, but I got ... distracted. I still got enough through to get me 14 guaranteed marks! (out of yeigh 80) and there was only one series of questions (worth about 9) that seriously stumped me. I'm pretty happy with how easy the exam was. And the course in general.

Apparently I'm a rare student for being able to cook large meals even during finals. Black pepper spiced mashed potatoes, alfredo cheddar pasta with roasted spanish salsa chicken! mmmm.

Oh, and I faze in and out of being nocturnal now. So I have experienced the wondrous joys of a silent campus life in the dead of night.

That's some fancy shit, Femme_Fatale. I wish I could cook, but the roomie is great so who cares, right?

December 16, 2014 6:16 p.m.

slovakattack says... #11

Femme_Fatale: Sounds delicious! I just made some pasta with white wine and garlic sauce the other night. You should try it out- takes about a half hour total to cook, so it's not too bad. Fair warning, though, it packs a punch!

I can't eat anything else bigguy99. Ever since I left high school, my tastes have slowly evolved to become more natural. Any snack that is on the shelves like cookies, chips, popcorn, chocolate, gummies, and even deserts like muffins, cake etc etc all make me sick to my stomach. So I have to make my own food so that I don't feel ill.

I still haven't learned though. I bought a 700g jar of Carnaby Sweet Gourmet Jelly Beans (the fancy multi-flavoured ones). They didn't do my tummy too well.

Femme_Fatale says... #15

I have some minced garlic slovakattack ... but I won't use wine. I'll try Soya Sauce instead. In fact, I've been using Soya Sauce a lot lately. It works really well in any pasta/spaghetti meal. Mainly ones with meat in them.

Oh, and I can't eat greasy foods like hamburger or bacon. So absolutely nothing fast food, and most restaurant stuff are a no-go as well.

December 16, 2014 6:31 p.m.

slovakattack says... #16

Femme_Fatale: If that's the case, then be careful what cheese you use. Certain cheeses (like cheddar) tend to get real greasy if you cook em.'

Ah the classic "I'm only doing this to pay for college."

No but seriously if anyone's reading this who wants to drop out or can't pay for college, study programming on your own. I can name off at least 20 companies I applied to where a Bachelor's degree was a "plus" for a $50,000+ job.

December 16, 2014 6:35 p.m.

slovakattack says... #19

The value of a college degree is really something that I feel needs to be examined on an individual basis.

December 16, 2014 6:36 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #20

omnipotato - a decent college graduate will start on around $90,000 to $100,000. Well, Ivy league, oxbridge etc.

VampireArmy says... #21

Trade schoolsv are a legit thing too by the way. Skilled work pays

December 16, 2014 6:41 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #22

Not the reason why I was going to do it omnipotato, the ability to pay for university IS the plus.

Other meals: Grilled feta, tomato and ham sandwiches. Fried noodles (cook the noodles (like an instant noodle package), drain them, butter a pan and stick the noodles on. Quickly crack an egg in, mix to cook the egg on all the noodles. Mix in chopped ham and tomatoes, let cook till it gets golden brown on a fair portion of noodles. Dump soup base in, a bit of water (couple of tablespoons), mix with salt and pepper. Then, dump in the grated cheddar and quickly mix around to melt the cheese in the noodles but not burn the cheese. Then, serve!) Dark chicken alfredo pasta (chicken alfredo with dark sauces added, like soya sauce). Breakfast club sandwiches (fried egg, ham, tomatoes, cheddar on 3 slices of bread). Orange Turbulence Omelettes (3 egg omelette with tomato, ham, guacamole, cream cheese and cheddar cheese).

A trend in ingredients here...

December 16, 2014 6:42 p.m.

omnipotato says... #23

ChiefBell lol most college graduates right now can't find even dead-end jobs. Obviously Ivy Leagues are different, but they only account for a small percentage of college grads. $50,000 is amazing for a high school grad.

December 16, 2014 6:43 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #24

Meh. That's probably a situation caused by the fact that too many people are going to college, which causes education devaluation. Regardless, elite college is like one million per cent worth it.

One of the massive things about college is getting to know future market leaders. If you know what you're doing college is one big networking exercise. I met a few people at university that are descended from royal lineages, or run silicon valley startups etc. Meeting these kinds of people is really important in life.

December 16, 2014 6:46 p.m.

omnipotato says... #25

ChiefBell not everyone can get into elite schools. Hence, "elite."

The average pay for a mathematician (meaning you got your Master's and very likely Ph.D) is around $100k, with the job outlook being over 10% above average. A degree sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

I am still going to die by the end of the semester.

Oh, and I have a make up paper, because the professor was nice and all "Oh, you need at least a C? Write this"

December 16, 2014 9:59 p.m.

I love when profs do that :)

December 16, 2014 10:34 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Australia.

Education is completely paid for by the government...until you make over a certain threshold of yearly income and then you have to pay it all back...

But fuck it, it's free now! And if you want to, you can stay at uni forever and never have to pay a single cent if you never make enough money XD

December 16, 2014 10:40 p.m.

BlueEyesRedMage that sounds like it would destroy the economy pretty fast if people started doing that

December 16, 2014 10:45 p.m.

Aye, i'm a little surprised it dosen't happen more often.

I remember taking a class last semester with a 37yr old guy who had 7 unique bachelor degrees...and no plans of leaving uni. He said he "enjoyed learning too much" o___o

granted I'm only in high school, but I have no tests before break now. I convinced my anatomy teacher to let me test two days early, and that was the only one left. This means Hearthstone and tapped Out time during school has increased. Success.

December 17, 2014 9:30 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #45

I'm so glad I choose not to take a science or math oriented major. I took my physics, chemistry, math and calculus AP classes in highschool, so I don't ever have to do them in university. When I look at my fellow roommates who are all in engineering or math oriented majors and can see them struggle severely, I feel that my choice has taken a large load off of my shoulders.

December 17, 2014 11:19 p.m.

bigguy99 says... #46

It's not that the material is difficult. It is what it is and no one should expect it to not be a heavy load of work. The papers, on the other hand, are something else. They're not giant 200-page theses, but they're a good length. I can't say I don't like doing them - most of the class wouldn't be exposed to the mathematics involved in the paper otherwise - but they are a shitload of work.
