What is the color identity of Kibo, Uktabi Prince?
Asked by bjgivesbj 2 months ago
So for the last three months, I’ve been testing out a commander deck which is built around the commander, Kibo. The deck utilizes both green and red, because I assumed the red mana symbol in Kibo’s text was a part of his color identity. However, I am now becoming apprehensive, because I heard that “reminder text” is not part of a creature’s color identity.
So, my question is, should I assume that the red mana symbol is simply reminder text describing the rules for the banana token? Or is it actually Kibo’s color identity, and how do I distinguish this from reminder text?

(Reminder text is italicized text inside of parentheses/brackets that gives a quick summary of how something works). Regular-format text is rules text. The symbol is part of Kibo's rules text, and so is part of its color identity.

Since the red mana Kibo's bananas create is not inside brackets, it is not reminder text, which means Kibo is indeed Gruul!
