What exactly is RTFC?

Asked by keyno 10 years ago

Okay, so i've been playing magic for about 3/4 years, and we've been doing fairly well with the rules on the main part, but there's a few little finicky bits that catch us out. This site has been very VERY useful at clearing up some rules questions for me, but I've been seeing "RTFC" bouncing about quite a bit, can someone explain this to me in detail? I understand priority, Active player & the stack, and this seems to be related?

Not really a rules question, but it does have a single answer.

"Read the fucking card"

Yeah, it's what Epoch said. It's basically shorthand for "You can find the answer to the question you are asking about card X by reading card X (or its Oracle text)".

Oh... And there I was expecting some sort of weird priority switching stack resolving magic cray stuff, something like "BODMAS" for stacks, Okay, yeah, that's logical. Cheers.
