What does 'Random' mean? Ex: Urza's Bauble
Asked by Brall 12 years ago
If player A plays card:Urza's Bauble on player B, can player B see what cards player A picks.
Example:
If someone plays card:Urza's Bauble on me and then I hold out my hand for the the player to pick, I obviously know what card is which, so then I know what card was picked.
Should I be able to know what card that player now knows I have?

FYI, there's no specific rule to reference for how to make random choices. "Random" isn't given a special definition in the CR, which means it's intended to be understood with its conventional English-language meaning.

The instruction to choose a card at random simply means the player taking the action needs to use an evenly weighted probabilistic method of making the choice. Arbitrarily choosing a card from a hidden zone is usually good enough, since it's equivalent to a random guess if he doesn't already know anything about the contents of the zone or its arrangement. If he does somehow know something about the zone or its arrangement, then he should flip a coin, roll a die, etc.
Since your hand is a zone that's always visible to you, you know what card your opponent chooses at the time it's chosen.
