Undergrowth Champion vs Vile Aggregate
Asked by Colten_Lee 9 years ago
UC is a 5/5, VA is a 7/5.I attack with VA. He blocks with UC. What happens?? I think both creatures survive and I trample for 4.
He thinks VA dies, tramples for 2, and then UC loses a counter. Any help is appreciated.

Damage is dealt simultaneously and trample damage is decided before damage is dealt. Furthermore you have to assign at least lethal damage to the creature before trampling over. Lethal damage doesn't account for prevention effects, doubling effects etc. but only looks at what would kill the creature with the toughness it has.
In this situation You have to assign 5 damage from Vile Aggregate to Undergrowth Champion so only 2 damage tramples over. Also before the counter is removed damage is already dealt so Undergrowth Champion will deal 5 damage to Vile Aggregate and so Vile Aggregate will die.
