Rise / Fall

Asked by Walrusyn 9 years ago

Hi! I've a question about Rise/Fall .

Ideally, I can cast Rise targeting a creature that my opponent has in the battlefield and a creature that I have in the graveyard.

But let's suppose my opponent has a creature on the battlefield and a creature on the graveyard and that I have no creatures in the graveyard.

If I cast Rise and target his creature on the battlefield in order to return it to hand, do I have to target his creature in graveyard creature as well? Or may I choose not to target that creature?

TIA!

You have to do both. Otherwise it would have been worded as "return target creature from the battlefield and/or return target creature from a graveyard..." etc.

Moreover, unless you have both targets, you cannot cast Rise .

Should have phrased that last bit as, 'unless there is a creature card on the battlefield and a creature card in the graveyard, you cannot cast Rise .'
