Quick Questions on Stitcher's Apprentice

Asked by Sirbaron 11 years ago

Hey guys, I have two questions to ask about this guy:1.Say my opponent swings a creature at me.Can I:Activate his ability, put the 2/2 on the field, block with it, and sacrifice it?2.They swing a 7/7, at meI block with a 5/5 zombie7/7, thus my zombie is going to dieOnce damage is assigned, can I sacrifice the zombie for this guy's ability? Or would I have to sac the zombie when blockers are declaired to get the 2/2 and not take any damage?Again this card is a little confusing, but I think it has a lot of hidden potential.Stitcher's Apprentice

You have to use double spacing or line breaks to separate lines.

1) No. You create a token and sacrifice a creature all during the resolution of Stitcher's Apprentice 's ability. You have to completely resolve the ability before you can do anything else.

Furthermore, your last chance to activate Stitcher's Apprentice 's ability is during the end of the declare attackers step. If you don't activate it then, the game moves to the declare blockers step, and you declare all blockers as a turn-based action before anyone gets priority to do anything.

2) You can activate Stitcher's Apprentice 's ability after declaring blockers, but before the combat damage step. By doing this, you can sacrifice one of your blocking creatures. The attacking creature will remain blocked, even though no creature is currently blocking it.
