multiplayer hand size?

Is there an official rule (or a generally understood one) that you have a hand size of 8 in multiplayer games?
my friends always have played they way, but I wasn't aware of that until they brought it up.
And, yes, I know that when playing casual, you can make your own rules but I prefer to play officially for when I play with other people that don't have "our house rules".
One Deck Four or more players Two-on-Two or MeleeOne Deck is a variation of Two-on-Two or Melee. This is a great variant when not everyone has a deck available. You need just one deck of at least 120 cards for a four-player game. Add at least twenty cards for each additional player.
Decks for One Deck games typically use all five colors, but you can build a deck using fewer colors if you want. Avoid using spells that require two mana of the same color in their mana or activation costs; that way each player will have a better chance of being able to play the cards he or she draws. You should also reduce the number of one- and two-mana spells. Such cards are usually good only in the early game, and it may take a while to get even one land of a particular color. If youre using a five-color deck, you may want to prohibit attacking for the first three turns or increase the opening hand (and hand-size limit) to ten cards. This will reduce your chances of ending up with the wrong color mana to cast your spells.

No, the max hand size for "Normal" multiplayer 7. However, you do get a free muligan and get to draw first turn even if you're playing first.
But if you're just playing a casual game have some fun with it as long as you remember the real rules playing with anyone else. Multiplayer is inherently more fun to begin with due to the nature of multiple people, there tends to be lots of bribery and backstabbing etc.

Not as far as I'm aware. The only official changes I can think of in multiplayer are that you get one free mulligan (you can mulligan to 7 once instead of going straight to 6) and the player who starts also draws on their first turn. I've never read anything about a change to maximum hand size.
