Mirri, Weatherlight dueling vs Alesha ruling

Asked by Giro 7 years ago

So I'm playing a Mirri edh, her ability states that while she is tapped no more than one creature can attack you each combat.Aleash brings in another creature from the graveyard tapped and attacking , but it doesn't specify that the creature it brings in has to be player Alesha is currently attacking (me, with a tapped Mirri) so my question is, is my friend allowed to declare the new attacking as attacking me? Or can it be another player??If possible can someone link a ruling to it?

11/24/2014 You choose which opponent or opposing planeswalker the creature is attacking as you put it onto the battlefield. It doesnt have to be the same player or planeswalker Alesha is attacking.

11/24/2014 Although the creature you return is attacking, it was never declared as an attacking creature (for purposes of abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks, for example).

Additional rulings on Gatherer for Alesha.

Since it's never declared as an attacker, it bypasses the restriction of only one creature being allowed to attack you. They may let it go at your or whomever else they want.
