Is Colorless a Color Word?
Asked by gaiaquasar 9 years ago
The Comprehensive Rules barely mention 'color word' and even then, it's not defined that I can see. I know that colorless is not a color, but it seems that it defines a color characteristic of a card. Can Ancient Kavu be hacked with Alter Reality (etc.)?

- Colors105.1. There are five colors in the Magic game: white, blue, black, red, and green.
If it's not in this list, it is not a "color word"

Also important: 105.4. If a player is asked to choose a color, he or she must choose one of the five colors. Multicolored is not a color. Neither is colorless.

In any cases where color matters, colorless means a lack of color. since it is not white, blue, black, red or green, it is not a color.
Link all cards in the question: Ancient Kavu, Alter Reality.
