Intet, the Dreamer - exiling cards in commander

Asked by Kobisaur 10 years ago

Hi!

I've been thinking about using Intet, the Dreamer as my first EDH general. I have one crucial question though:

I use his ability and exile a card with him, then he returns to the command zone one way or another without me casting the exiled card. If I then replay Intet, the Dreamer from the command zone onto the battlefield, can I still cast the previously exiled card?

Thanks!

No. Whenever a card refers to itself by name, it actually means "this object". Once it changes zones, it becomes a different object with no memory of its past existance.

Just as an addition, the Gatherer ruling:

01.02.2007 - After Intet leaves the battlefield, if a card exiled this way is still exiled, you may still look at it. You won't be able to play it, though.

Yeah I saw that, but that ruling seems to handle a situation where intet is not on the battlefield anymore. So I started doubting what happened if he returned.

Thank you!
