Instants/sorceries with Ixidor and Manifest, what happens?

Asked by LittleGreen 9 years ago

Let's say Ixidor, Reality Sculptor is on the field, and I somehow manifest a sorcery card as a face down creature if I turn it face up with ixidor will it resolve? or will it go straight to the graveyard? or would I have a sorcery on the field...that acts like a creature? Thanks!

We'll have to see what rules updates come with the set's release. However, instants and sorceries cannot exist on the battlefield. The rules currently prevent them from entering the battlefield, and I would assume that they will soon prevent them from being turned face-up because they are not permanents.

You could try messaging Matt Tabak on social media for a more conclusive answer.

The rules are already out.

A non-permanant can't be turned face-up. If something would turn it face up, it is instead revealed and then left face down.

Are they? I checked the WOTC rules portal and their docs were last updated in June. Can you link me to the new docs?

701.31e A face-down permanent represented by an instant or sorcery card can't be turned face up. If an effect instructs a player to turn one face up, its controller reveals it and leaves it face down. Abilities that trigger whenever a permanent is turned face up won't trigger.

It's in the Fate Reforged Release Notes. They haven't been migrated to the CR yet.
