How does Barbarian Class or Wyll, Blade of Frontiers works out with the planar die

Asked by pedroedmarcos 1 year ago

Hey there,

They say that I can roll the die +1 and choose the highest but since the planar die does not have numbers, how it works out? May I just choose which one I want?

Effects that refer to a numerical result on a die roll or whether a roll is more/less than something don't interact with rolling the planar die. In your example that means you don't roll extra dice.

When the concept of die-rolling was introduced, the "Rolling a Die" and "Planechase" sections of the CR got specific rules to address this situation (they basically say the same thing):

706.6. In a Planechase game, rolling the planar die will cause any ability that triggers whenever a player rolls one or more dice to trigger. However, any effect that refers to a numerical result of a die roll, including ones that compare the results of that roll to other rolls or to a given number, ignores the rolling of the planar die. See rule 901, "Planechase."

901.9d Rolling the planar die will cause any ability that triggers whenever a player rolls one or more dice to trigger. However, any effect that refers to a numerical result of a die roll, including ones that compare the results of that roll to other rolls or to a given number, ignores the rolling of the planar die. See 706, "Rolling a Die."
